Have you ever tried a health tip you saw on social media—only to later find out it wasn’t really supported by science?

You’re not alone. In today’s episode, we’re breaking down the myths, misinformation, and half-truths that flood our feeds with Dr. Farah Deshmukh, a board-certified internal medicine and obesity medicine physician. Dr. Deshmukh completed a two-year fellowship in obesity medicine and nutrition at Northwell Health in New York and now leads the Obesity and Lifestyle Medicine Program at Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey. She also researches how social media shapes what people believe about nutrition and weight—and today, she’s clearing up some of the most common misunderstandings.

We cover topics like why supplements often get hyped online and why it’s important to ask who’s behind those claims and what their goals are. We talk about the rise of compounded GLP-1 medications being promoted as safe and affordable, even though many are unregulated and illegal. We also address the common belief that “Big Pharma just wants to make money,” and why that idea can be misleading. Plus, we discuss trending drugs like sublingual tirzepatide that are widely talked about online but aren’t approved or even available yet. And finally, we look at supplements labeled “natural”—why they might seem harmless but aren’t always worth the cost.

Online health advice is everywhere, but knowing what’s true takes time and trusted experts.

Have you ever thought about what’s actually going on when a child is dealing with obesity not just physically, but emotionally and socially too?

In this episode, we’re getting into pediatric obesity and all the layers that people don’t always see. Like, it’s really not just about eating too much or not getting enough movement. There’s way more to it.

I’m chatting with Dr. Lisa Tritto, a board-certified pediatrician and obesity specialist at Evora for Kids in St. Louis, Missouri. She’s been in general pediatrics for over 20 years and even did a full-year fellowship in pediatric obesity at the University of Minnesota. And honestly, not many clinicians have done that.

We talk about what really shapes pediatric obesity, how doctors track and treat it, the meds that are usually used, and how to actually give helpful nutrition advice without making kids feel bad. We also get into how to talk to kids about weight in a way that supports their relationship with food and keeps their self-esteem intact.

So yeah, if you want to understand this better and learn how to really support kids going through it, go check out the full episode.

Ever lost a lot of weight like 40, 50 pounds or more and noticed some unexpected changes in your body?

In today’s episode, we’re talking about the surprising (and sometimes downright weird) side effects that don’t get mentioned much when it comes to major weight loss—whether it’s from lifestyle changes or medications like Zepbound or Wegovy.

For example, some people develop Eustachian tube dysfunction, which can make your ears feel blocked or pop unexpectedly. Sitting might even feel uncomfortable now that the fat cushioning your tailbone is gone.

Then there’s “slimmer’s paralysis”—a temporary nerve irritation that can pop up when the fat around certain nerves disappears. You might also spot new lumps or bumps, or find yourself feeling colder than usual since fat helps keep you warm.

Other changes can include lower blood pressure and shifts in your menstrual cycle as your body adjusts.

Want to hear more about these lesser-known effects and how to deal with them? Tune in to the full episode!

What if your gut is the key you’ve been missing in your weight and wellness journey?
Gut health is talked about a lot these days, but what does it really mean? And why does it matter so much when it comes to losing weight or simply feeling better overall?

Here’s the scoop: gut health basically means how well your digestive system is functioning. A big part of that depends on the balance of bacteria living in your gut, also known as your gut microbiome. This tiny ecosystem inside you plays a major role—it affects digestion, mood, immunity, inflammation, and yes, even your weight.

When everything is in balance, your body absorbs nutrients properly and runs more smoothly. But if that balance is thrown off, you might experience gut dysbiosis. This can disrupt nutrient absorption, cause inflammation, and even lead to something called leaky gut—where your gut lining becomes too permeable, letting things into your bloodstream that shouldn’t be there.

Here’s the catch: all of this can make losing weight tougher. Inflammation puts your body in survival mode, which means fat loss isn’t a priority. So improving gut health isn’t just about digestion—it’s about giving your body the best chance to thrive.

So today, I have Erica Gutierrez joining us. Erica is a functional registered dietitian with 20 years of experience using an integrative approach to feeling good in your body. She specializes in digging deeper to uncover root imbalances to optimize gut health and metabolic health.

In this episode, we’ll break down everything—from gut dysbiosis and leaky gut to inflammation and their effects on weight. Plus, we’ll cover practical tips like meal timing, food variety, what healthy bowel movements look like, how certain medications affect your gut, and where GLP-1 meds come into play.

Dive into the full episode to get all the details and start supporting your gut for better health, more energy, and a natural glow from the inside out.

Ever wonder how you can get more movement into your day without committing to a full workout?

There's actually a concept gaining popularity that's simple but effective: exercise snacks. This idea, which I first heard about from a medical student last year, is all about adding short bursts of activity into your day—not protein shakes or post-workout treats, but quick, easy movements that fit into your schedule.

Why does this matter? Well, research shows that these small bursts of activity can improve heart health, metabolism, and help regulate blood sugar. When it comes to metabolism and weight, these mini workouts really do add up. Plus, they’re an easy way to break up long periods of sitting—something many of us could use.

In this episode, we’ll talk about what exercise snacks are, the science behind them, and share ideas for adding them to your daily routine. It’s not about finding the perfect workout, but simply moving more when you can.

Tune in to the full episode to learn all about how these small efforts can make a big impact!
