Suicide Gone By 2035? Early Childhood Prevention Over Intervention

Today, I sit down with Ms. Deborah and Mr. Brian, who are on a powerful mission to make suicide extinct by the year 2035. We start with some startling statistics and talking about intervention before we explore how true prevention starts at the root long before the crisis point through education, conversation, and emotional tools made simple enough for even eight-year-olds to understand.

Ms. Deborah shares how her own experiences with suicidal ideation and healing through EMDR therapy inspired her to write a book and create a prevention program built around The Five Stages of Intellectual Development. She emphasizes the need to begin conversations around emotions and decision-making as early as age eight, before puberty and the social issues of adolescence hit.

Mr. Brian, who survived a suicide attempt that resulted in the loss of a limb, joins the conversation with vulnerability and wisdom. He talks about the long journey from hopelessness to hope, the power of second chances, and how his new sense of purpose is helping others reframe their own lives.

We discuss why lived experience is more valuable than a degree in this space, and how the real goal is prevention, not just intervention. We also explore the roadblocks theyve faced from website restrictions in Canada to the difficulty of getting taken seriously without clinical credentials and how theyve pushed forward anyway, one conversation and one child at a time.

She Was Her Son's Drug-Dealer? The Reality Of Addiction Cycles And Breaking Them

Today, I sit down with Jennifer Chase, a recovery coach and founder of Rise Addiction Life Coaching, who brings one of the most multi-dimensional stories of addiction I’ve ever heard. Ms. Chase has been a daughter of an alcoholic, a mother to an addicted son, and an addict herself. In this episode, we tackle addiction from every angle — the addict’s battle, the family’s trauma, and the long road toward healing together. Ms. Chase opens up about her journey from opiate addiction to discovering she was unknowingly supplying her son with drugs, and how her own recovery began not from wanting to get sober, but from wanting to stop hurting those she loved.

We talk about how addiction affects entire families, and how healing is not just for the person in recovery — it's for everyone involved. Ms. Chase breaks down what true support looks like, the myth of “tough love,” and how rescuing can often prolong addiction. She shares how her husband’s enabling role delayed her recovery, and how their marriage ultimately survived years of addiction and pain by walking through the recovery process together. We dig into the dynamics of shame, denial, codependency, and the deep need for boundaries that protect peace without punishing the addict.

This conversation is a lifeline for anyone impacted by addiction — whether you're recovering yourself or watching someone you love fight the battle. We explore relapse prevention, personal accountability, and how Ms. Chase now uses her story to coach families through the chaos. Her message is clear: the only way to change the cycle is to heal the whole system — not just the addict. From practical recovery tools to powerful truths, this episode offers hope, clarity, and a community for everyone hurting in silence.

Send us a text

Today, I sit down with Alicia Bloss, the wife of Damien Bloss, who joined us in a previous episode to share his journey of addiction and recovery in what he calls Breaking The Silence. This time, we’re flipping the script and hearing from the loved one who stood by his side through it all to get insights from the loved one of an addicted and recovering individual.

Alicia opens up about what it’s really like to be married to an alcoholic—covering the emotional toll, financial strain, and trust issues that consumed their marriage for over a decade. We talk about what it means to love someone through active addiction, how addiction can quietly destroy families, and why many spouses feel forced into silence out of shame or fear of judgment.

We explore the unique pain of being a loved one: hiding the truth from family, protecting the kids, and carrying guilt that doesn’t belong to you. Alicia also speaks on the powerful role of prayer, setting boundaries, and rebuilding trust after sobriety. We touch on triggers, communication breakthroughs, and the small but hard-won victories that come with recovery—for both partners.

This conversation is for anyone who’s loved an addict, is loving one now, or has ever wondered what addiction does to the people around it. If you’ve ever felt invisible in the shadow of someone else’s addiction, this episode is for you as we try to foster community for the loved ones of addicted individuals who feel alone.

Send us a text

Today, I sit down with Cole Grace, a combat veteran and author who walks us through a raw, transformative journey from the deserts of Iraq to the peaceful coastlines of Costa Rica. We talk about his time in the military where he performed bomb disposal missions under constant threat, the long-term physical and mental tolls that followed, and how he began to unravel the effects of PTSD, chronic pain, and identity loss.

Mr. Grace opens up about his post-service transition — from losing his military identity to struggling with invisible wounds and chronic stomach pain, possibly linked to radiation exposure. He shares the challenges of being told “it’s all in your head” and the heavy weight of feeling broken despite surviving war. He also walks us through his time working for the government, his eventual retirement, and how a search for peace led him to relocate to Costa Rica — only to discover that external changes couldn’t heal internal chaos.

In this episode, we dig into the truth behind internal healing. Mr. Grace shares insights from his new book, Internal > External: Calming the Chaos Within, and breaks down how gratitude, affirmations, personal mission statements, and mindset training helped him reprogram his life.
