Welcome to the Active Ingredient Podcast, your destination for all things inner exploration, growth, connection, and curiosity. I'm your host, Sophie Weill, and I am a deeply curious human who believes that every single person on earth has their own unique and beautiful core essence, which is what I call your ingredient.
And our job here is to uncover what that is and choose to activate it every single day. Howard Thurman said it best. "Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive. Because what the world needs is more people who have come alive." So let's do that.

This week's solo is about consciously creating and allowing for structures/frameworks that work for us and remembering that structures can actually liberate. This is coming from a person who loves/values freedom and fluidity above most things and is a topic that I think is so relevant to so many of us who work for ourselves or are building/co-creating our own lives. It's something I have been SO resistant towards and am finally ready to unlearn/step into. ENJOY <3

Yoga is and has been my #1 tool when it comes to recentering/grounding/connecting to myself and because May is mental health awareness month, I wanted to re-release this episode with my amazing yoga teacher and friend, Mimi Ghandour, all about the practice of yoga, what is actually happening inside during a yoga class, finding (remembering, rather) your real Self, releasing the care of what other people think, and committing to your self/continuing to show up no matter what. It really is the tool that I go back to over and over and over again through tougher seasons (as well as fab seasons!) and am so deeply grateful for the practice. Hope you enjoy <3

The guest of this week's show is with one of my favorite humans - we have my good friend and absolute force of nature in the advertising world, Karla Vitrone, on the show. Karla and I first met back in 2018 when she had just left the advertising world after working for some of the world's leading ad agencies like Wieden+Kennedy, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, and 72andSunny and had just ventured out to co-create one of the first-ever hormone-tracking apps, Moody, focused on empowering women with information on their hormonal cycles and fluctuations and how to best work in harmony with your hormones - a topic that is still very much top of mind for her now.
She is now a partner at Tangerine, an independent, female founded and owned recruiting company whose guiding principle is that WHO always beats WHAT and that people are the ultimate resource - she has placed top creative talent at the world’s most innovative and influential companies like Airbnb, Spotify, Expedia, Athleta, Lego, Warby Parker, OpenAI, The New York Times, Mother, Uncommon, BBDO, Droga5 and Blackstone.
In 2020, Karla co-founded Tangerine’s sister company Revelry, a people-centered consultancy that goes beyond talent placement—solving business challenges through people, chemistry, and culture.
Given her background, Karla has made it her mission to bridge the worlds of hormonal health and career performance and longevity for women in their perimenopausal and menopausal phases as her core belief is that we need women in power longer and that the lack of education, tools and support around what is happening to women's internal states and bodies during their perimenopausal and menopausal years is what is leading to women dropping out of the workforce between 40 and 50 simply because their symptoms are not recognized nor managed.
In this episode we are getting into Karla's own journey navigating the advertising world, moving through feeling completely out of alignment, launching a fem-tech hormone tracking business to then stepping into a role that is at the intersection of all of her interests being a talent recruiter and advocate for women. We're getting into what is actually happening to women's bodies, misdiagnoses, and how this affects the future of leadership and we are getting into all things listening to your soul vs ego when it comes to making decisions in your career.
