Matthews worked as a Red Seal-licensed automotive technician, repairing and restoring Rolls-Royce and Ferrari vehicles. From 2002 to 2014, he wrote a weekly column for a Canadian newspaper focused on classic cars. In addition, he spent ten years as an administrator for the British Columbia provincial government's licensing and insurance program that recognizes collector and vintage vehicles. Nigel was recently awarded the 2024 UNSUNG HERO OF THE YEAR by the Hot House Media, Concours yearbook. This year marks his 50 years in the classic car world and his 9th year as the Chief Judge of the La Jolla Concours. Originally from Oxfordshire, England, Matthews has lived in and loved every minute of residing in Vancouver, British Columbia, for the past 50 years of his automotive career.
Christopher Peterson
Christopher Peterson has been passionate about cars for as long as he can remember, probably even longer. A La Jolla native, he grew up surrounded by classic and exotic automobiles, dreaming of one day becoming a race car driver. This passion eventually led to a career spanning over 25 years in the collector car world. Straight out of high school, Chris joined Symbolic Motor Car Company, one of the leading dealerships for classic, exotic and competition cars. Over the years, he worked his way up from the parts department to Director of Sales and Marketing, developing a deep expertise in post-war European sports and competition cars, along with a talent for uncovering rare and historically significant automobiles. Today, Chris serves as a consultant for Sotheby's Motorsport and chairs the Motor Car Classic at the La Jolla Concours d'Elegance. His time is spent sourcing exceptional cars, helping collectors navigate the auction world, and ensuring automotive history is properly appreciated or at the very least, not left to collect dust in a forgotten garage. A fourth-generation San Diegan, Chris comes from a family with deep ties to the region's business and automotive culture. His grandfather, Robert O. Peterson, founded Jack in the Box and pioneered the modern drive-thru restaurant. When he's not hunting for automotive treasures, Chris enjoys cooking, sailing, and occasionally restoring cars that he swears he'll finish one day.
Ida Zetterstrm
Ida Zetterstrm is a two-time Super Street Bike Champion, having won the championship in 2019 and 2020. She is also the 2023 European Champion in FIA Top Fuel Drag Racing, where she set the European ET record of 3.77 seconds and a speed record of 321.1 mph, winning all but one race in the 2023 season. Ida began her racing career at the age of 8 in junior dragsters and has worked tirelessly to compete at the highest levels of drag racing. In 2024, she is set to compete in the NHRA Top Fuel ranks as a pilot of an 11,000 horsepower dragster, mastering speeds of over 330 mph in just 1,000 feet. Her journey has been characterized by dedication, hard work, and a deep passion for the sport.
Angela Savage
Angela Savage is the daughter of racecar driver Swede Savage, who tragically died after a crash during the 1973 Indianapolis 500. Born shortly after her father's death, Angela has had a tumultuous life that she chronicles in her book, SAVAGE ANGEL. She credits the racing community for playing a crucial role in her life and is now a program manager for Racing For Mental Health, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and destigmatizing the topic through education and advocacy within the racing community.

Angela Savage was in her mother’s womb during the tragic running of the 1973 Indianapolis 500. Her mother watched from the grandstand, in horror, as her husband, racecar driver Swede Savage, crashed in turn four after leading the race. The vicious impact and catastrophic explosion left him with critical injuries that would ultimately claim his life 33 days later. Angel was born just a few weeks after his tragic death. Angela’s tumultuous life, as well as the life of her famous father, is chronicled in her book, SAVAGE ANGEL. Angela credits the racing community for saving her life as she began exploring the history of her iconic father that led to finding herself. She is now a special part of the entire racing family and works as a program manager for Racing For Mental Health, a nonprofit organization that promotes mental health awareness and destigmatizes the topic of mental health through conversation, education, advocacy and outreach via the racing community.
